The first WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) legislation in Türkiye was published in 2012 and came into effect in 2013. The latest revision was introduced at the end of 2022.

Who is in Scope?

Any natural or legal person who, regardless of the sales method (including distance sales), falls under one of the following categories:

  1. Manufacturers in Türkiye – Those who produce EEE under their own name/trademark; or have it manufactured/designed and place it on the domestic market under their own brand.

2. Resellers in Türkiye – Those who rebrand and sell EEE produced by others under their own name/trademark.

3. Importers in Türkiye – Those who import EEE for commercial purposes.

4. Distant Sellers (NEW – 2023) – Companies located outside Türkiye that sell EEE directly to end-users/consumers in Türkiye via remote communication.

Reporting Timeline

    • Put on Market (POM) & Collection Reporting: Annually in March.

    • Import Reporting & Recovery Participation Fee: Every quarter.

Obligations of Producers

  • Register with the Ministry’s online system.

  • Submit yearly EEE Put on Market and WEEE Collection reports.

  • Report import amounts and pay the Recovery Participation Fee quarterly.

  • Establish a collection system for WEEE.

  • Appoint an Authorized Representative if located outside Türkiye but selling via distance-selling channels.
