Waste Electrical And Electronic Equipment Regulation in Türkiye
The first WEEE legislation has been published in 2012 with effective date of 2013. Latest revision has been made end of 2022 effective February 2023.
Who is in Scope?
Natural or real person who, irrespective of the method of sale, including sales made through distance contracts:
1) is resident in Türkiye and manufactures electrical and electronic
equipment under his own name or trademark or has electrical and
electronic equipment designed or manufactured and places them on the domestic market under his own name or trademark,
2) is resident in Türkiye and who resells electrical and electronic equipment produced by other suppliers under his own name or trademark in Türkiye,
3) is resident in Türkiye and imports electrical and electronic equipment for commercial purposes,
4) is resident in another country and sells EEE directly to consumers/end-users in Türkiye via remote communication. (NEW in 2023)
Put On Market and Collection Reporting should be done in March each year.
Obligations of Producers:
- Register on Online System of The Ministry
- Report Put On Market and Collection Amounts yearly.
- Report the import amounts and pay Recovery Participation Fee every quarter.
- Have collection system for WEEE.
- To appoint an Authorized Representative if not present in Türkiye but sell through distant-selling.
